Mount Kenya

Africa's second-highest mountain, with alpine moorland and multi-day treks.

Mount Kenya offers trekking routes through forest, bamboo and alpine moorland towards Point Lenana. Technical summits require climbing experience.

The surrounding foothills and forests suit shorter walks and can be combined with Laikipia or Samburu.

When to go

Drier months, roughly January to February and July to October, are often preferred for trekking.
