Golden-hour savannah in the Maasai Mara with an acacia tree and wildebeest

South-west Kenya

Maasai Mara

Rolling grasslands, big skies and some of Africa's most celebrated wildlife country.

The Mara is open savannah bordered by the Oloololo Escarpment and the Mara River. Game drives here move through wide plains where predators and plains game share the same horizon.

Surrounding community conservancies offer quieter, lower-density experiences alongside the national reserve, often with walking and night drives where permitted.

When to go

Wildlife viewing is possible year-round. The wildebeest migration is typically present from around July to October, though timing varies each year.
